Reliability and limitations

Questions

Will my own writing be flagged because English is not my first language?

No. AcadVista AI Detect is built to be fair to non-native English writers: fewer than 1% of genuine academic passages are flagged, whether or not English is the author's first language.

Do you keep my document?

No. The uploaded file is deleted as soon as the check finishes. The report, which includes the text, is kept in your account for 30 days so you can come back to it, and you can delete it sooner. Your documents are never added to a repository or shared.

Is the score proof that AI was used?

No. It is a statistical judgement of how the text reads, and it should start a conversation, not end one. Read the flagged passages, and see the reliability page for what it can and cannot catch.

Can it catch text that was passed through a humanizer or paraphrasing tool?

Often, but not always. Text rewritten by dedicated humanizer services or heavily edited by hand can be missed. We say so openly rather than promise what no detector can deliver.
